Realme 2 Pro
Realme entered India with one of the best smartphones under 15,000 rupees – the Realme 1. Less than six months later, the company has released its successor, the RealMe 2 Pro, and is hoping to continue its impressive run in the competitive Indian market.
The RealMe 2 Pro features a lot of key upgrades across the board. You get a large display with a barely-noticeable waterdrop notch that looks great. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, along with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of built-in storage. You get a dual rear camera setup and an upgraded front-facing shooter that are impressive, at least on paper. Keeping it all running is a 3,500mAh battery.
The Realme 2 Pro is available with three different configurations and four color options. However, only the version with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, priced at 13,990 rupees, comes under the specific under-15,000 rupees price segment. If you are willing to splurge a little more, you can bump the RAM up to 6GB for an additional 2,000 rupees. Finally, the high-end 8GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage version will set you back 17,990 rupees.
All versions of the RealMe 2 Pro will be available on Flipkart from October 11.

Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro
The new Redmi 6 Pro is Xiaomi‘s attempt to bring mid-range features to the budget segment and keep up with the times. It’s essentially the Mi A2 Lite, which launched globally last month except in India. However, this isn’t an Android One phone, running Xiaomi’s proprietary MIUI skin instead.
The Redmi 6 Pro is also the second device from the company, following the flagship POCO F1, to feature a notched display. The specifications are otherwise standard for this price point. You get the Snapdragon 625 processor, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, up to 64GB of built-in storage, a dual rear camera setup, and a large 4,000mAh battery.
The budget and mid-range smartphone market in India is very crowded and Xiaomi is partly responsible for this chaos by releasing a phone at every couple of thousand rupees. As intended, the Redmi 6 Pro falls in between the higher-end Redmi Note series and the entry-level non-Pro Redmi smartphones in terms of specifications and price.
The version with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage is priced at just 10,999 rupees, while 4GB of RAM and double the storage will set you back an additional 3,000 rupees. The Redmi 6 Pro is a solid, reliable smartphone to get at this price point, but there is definitely a lot more competition in this segment now.

Xiaomi Redmi Y2

ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1
ASUS is another company that is looking to undercut some of Xiaomi’s dominance in the Indian market and follows a strategy that is similar to RealMe. The ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 comes specs similar to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, but at a far cheaper price point. Among the new entrants in India over the last couple of months, this device definitely deserves to be on this list of best smartphones under 15,000 Rupees.
These specs include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, 3 or 4GB of RAM, 32/64GB of onboard storage, and a dual rear camera setup. There is also a 6GB RAM iteration of the phone, but that hasn’t been launched in India yet. The big selling point of this phone though, and as large as its name, is the huge 5,000 mAh battery than ASUS has managed to squeeze into a phone that is not much thicker than the rest of the devices on this list.
The ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 can be yours for just 10,999 rupees (3GB/32GB) or 12,999 rupees (4GB/64GB). However, it isn’t the easiest to get your hands on, with ASUS employing the dreaded flash sale system. The device goes on sale on Flipkart at 12PM every Thursday.

OPPO RealMe 1
OPPO made its debut in the budget-friendly category with its online-exclusive brand, RealMe. The Realme 1 boasts impressive specifications and looks fantastic for a device in this price range. These include a 6-inch Full HD+ display, the MediaTek Helio P60 processor, a whopping 6GB of RAM (a 4GB RAM iteration is also available), and 128GB of onboard storage. The rear camera is also really good, albeit without the dual camera setup that is quickly becoming the big selling point in this budget category.
The best part about the Realme 1 is that it manages to undercut the competition by a few thousand rupees including its own RealMe 2 Pro. The 6GB and 128GB iteration is priced at just 13,999 rupees and you can save even more money with the 4GB and 64GB version that costs 10,999 rupees. If you’re looking for the best phones under 15,000 rupees, the Realme 1 is definitely worth considering.
However, it’s not known for how much longer the Realme 1 will be available. Realme discontinued the lower-end iteration of the device when the Realme 2 launched and the company may do the same with the higher-end models now that the Realme 2 Pro is available.

Honor was one of the first companies to introduce budget-friendly smartphones with dual rear camera setups in India. Now, the Honor 9 Lite brings dual cameras to the front as well.
