The Realme 2 Pro sees a big upgrade in power, swapping out the standard model’s middling Snapdragon 450 chipset in favor of an upper mid-range Snapdragon 660 SoC. The base Realme 2 Pro starts at 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage, as opposed to the Realme 2’s 3GB+32GB starting model.

Need a little more power? Then the Pro model has you covered with a 6GB+64GB variant, and an 8GB+128GB option. By comparison, the Realme 2 tops out at 4GB+64GB.

The Realme 2 Pro’s screen is a big upgrade over the standard phone too. Instead of the vanilla phone’s 6.2-inch 720p display, we’ve got a 6.3-inch full HD+ screen. Both phones have a notch, but the Realme 2 Pro has a small waterdrop notch instead of the gigantic forehead seen on the normal model.

Editor's Pick

The Pro model also offers upgrades in the camera field, serving up a 16MP+2MP f/1.7 rear camera pairing compared to the Realme 2’s 13MP+2MP f/2.2 combination. The Realme 2 Pro also delivers a 12MP f/2.0 selfie snapper, as opposed to the cheaper phone’s 8MP f/2.2 shooter. The Pro model doesn’t have optical image stabilization, but hopefully the wider apertures result in better photos at night.

It’s not all good news though, as the Pro device has a 3,500mAh battery compared to the Realme 2’s 4,320mAh pack. Additionally, both phones are lacking NFC and USB Type-C, but at least they retain headphone jacks.

The standard Realme 2.

The standard Realme 2 starts at 8,990 rupees (~$124) for the 3GB+32GB model, and 10,990 rupees (~$151) for the 4GB+64GB variant. The 4GB+64GB Realme 2 Pro is priced at 13,990 rupees (~$193), while the 6GB+64GB variant has a 15,990 rupee (~$220) price tag, and the top-end 8GB+128GB model will retail for 17,990 rupees (~$248).

The difference between the top-end Realme 2 and base Pro model is 3,000 rupees (~$41), but it seems like you’re getting plenty of extras for the Realme 2 Pro anyway. There’s the more powerful chipset, better cameras on paper, and a slicker design. But you’re also getting reduced endurance in theory compared to the standard Realme 2.
