You can now download PUBG Mobile as a beta, if you can put up with bugs

Android Authority

  • The beta version of PUBG Mobile is now available.
  • You can try out version 0.7.0 of the game before its stable release.

PUBG Mobile has its fair share of bugs and issues, but the game was only available as a stable release. That changes today as developer Tencent Games released PUBG Mobile beta.

Because this is a beta, expect bugs and quirks to pop up more often than in the stable version. For example, I noticed a few areas in the menus that remain untranslated, encountered some weird animations when walking down the stairs, and saw more pop-in than usual.

Also, the beta version lacks in-app purchases and an option to sign into your normal account. Everyone who downloads this version of the game plays as a guest, so your progress goes away once you exit the game.

The good news is that players can try out version 0.7.0, which is not yet available as a stable release. Version 0.7.0 includes War, a faster-paced version of the existing Arcade Mode. War is currently unplayable, though the timer is set to expire in almost nine hours, so the mode will likely go live at midnight ET.

Version 0.7.0 also includes the SLR sniper rifle and Portable Closet, which lets players change clothes during a match. Just make sure you are in a safe corner of the map, since Portable Closet does not pause the match.

Editor's Pick

Most significantly, version 0.7.0 finally makes steps to fix what I think is one of the game’s biggest annoyances: the main menu. It is much easier to select the game mode, the map, your view, your number of team members, and the server.
