- A listing on the Samsung website seems to have confirmed the new Samsung Galaxy Watch.
- Although the listing is gone now, we have a screenshot that shows an image, the name, and a model number.
- The Galaxy Watch is likely to launch on August 9.
Earlier today, CNET got a tip from a Twitter user that the official Samsung website had a listing for a Samsung Galaxy Watch. Sure enough, the name of the device, a photo, and even a model number were available for anyone to see.
The listing was quickly removed, but luckily we can all check it out through the magic of screenshots:
Rumors have been circulating for months now that the next iterations of smartwatches from Samsung would drop the “Gear” moniker and instead go simply by “Galaxy Watch.” This listing all but confirms that that is the case.
We also heard rumors that the Samsung Galaxy Watch would come in a new gold variant, but it appears that Samsung is going for the popular rose gold instead of a traditional gold. It also appears that this new line of watches will be less sporty and more luxurious than the Samsung Gear S3.
The model number listed under the device — SM-R810NZDAXAR — doesn’t match up exactly with anything we’ve previously seen. However, the R800 series number does match up with recent filings, so it’s possible this watch is just a variant.
Unfortunately, when the listing was live it was a dead link, so we don’t have any leaked pricing, specs, or other photos. But this does seem to heavily suggest that the Gear S4 is actually the Galaxy Watch and that it will come in Rose Gold.
We expect Samsung to launch the Galaxy Watch on August 9 along with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. We’ll know everything for certain then.
